How can I find the thumbprint in my PKIoverheid certificate?

To apply for a Level 4 eHerkenning means of authentication, you must hold a personal certificate or a professional certificate.

This certificate consists of a SIM card and a USB stick, or a card and a card reader linked to your computer, which enables you to sign documents legally (in person) on behalf of your organisation or in your capacity as a recognised professional.

If you do not have a personal certificate or a professional certificate, please let us know where you wish to log in using eHerkenning.

If you do have a personal certificate or a professional certificate, we kindly ask you to follow the instructions below on how to retrieve the correct thumbprint and provide it to us so that we can process your application.

How can I find the thumbprint in my PKIoverheid certificate?

Option 1: via the certificate website (recommended)

                • Go to https://kpnpkio.managedpki.com/zoeken
               • Under ‘Filters’, select ‘Personal certificate’ or ‘Professional certificate’ under ‘Type’,
depending on the type you have purchased.
               • Under ‘Name’, enter your full name or the email address used for your certificate
               • Click on the blue button [Search]
               • In the list that appears, click “Details” next to the certificate you wish to use for your EH4 tool
               • Click “Download authenticity certificate”.
               • Open the downloaded file and go to the “Details” tab.
               • Scroll down and click “Thumbprint”. The thumbprint will now appear in the field below.

Option 2: via Token Management/SafeSign

               • Open Token Management.
               • Right-click on the certificate and select “Show Token Objects…”.
               • A window will open showing all PKCS #11 objects.

The three certificates are also listed here: ‘Authenticity’, ‘Confidentiality’ and ‘Non-repudiation’.
               • Double-click on the “Authenticity” certificate.
               • The certificate details will be displayed.

The thumbprint you need to enter during the application is the ‘SHA-1 fingerprint’.
               • You must enter the fingerprint WITHOUT the colons.

Would you like to apply for eHerkenning for the UWV? In that case, depending on the portal you wish to log in to, eHerkenning EH3 will suffice.
