Application Process for eHerkenning EH4 (level 4)
Tip 1: Before applying, check with the service provider where you want to log in which assurance level is required. An EH4 application is not always necessary; the most commonly used eHerkenning level is EH3.
Tip 2: An EH4 application can only be completed if you have a PKI personal or professional certificate. Click here for more information about PKI certificates. The thumbprint of your certificate must be linked to your EH4 credential.
Follow these steps of the EH4 Application Process:

Enter the personal details of the user who will receive the EH4 eHerkenning credential, select the appropriate authorisation, and click **Next**.

Step 12
Verify the email address. Since your eHerkenning credential is personal, click Yes if the information is correct.

Select the required authorizations and the validity period, then click Next.
If your Chamber of Commerce extract indicates joint signing authority, Tab 6 – Representatives will appear. Add all authorised representatives as listed on the Chamber of Commerce extract.
Because joint signing authority applies, one of the authorized representatives must complete the identification process. In Tab 7 – Identification, enter the details of the authorized representative who will be identified.

➡️ The PO/Reference Number is optional and intended for your own administration.
