How do I apply for eHerkenning?

With this item, we provide you with a step-by-step guide for your eHerkenning application.

Step 1: What do you wish to use eHerkenning for?

Each service provider requires a different authorization. This authorization proves that you are authorized to log in.

Level of assurance: The service provider you want to log in to, determines the assurance level required to log in to their service(s).

The overview of service providers provides a current overview of the various services offered within eHerkenning. In this overview, you can see which level of assurance is required per service.

In step 4 ('Authorizations') in the application process, you can specify which services you want access to.

You can choose between specific authorizations, an authorization for all services from a certain service provider, or an authorization for all services from all service providers.


Authorizations for all services:
This authorization allows you to log on to any service provider on the assurance level you've applied for. If any service provider adds new authorizations, these are included in this set of authorizations.

Authorization for all services from a certain service provider:
When selecting all services from one service provider, access is granted to the selected service provider's services, also if they add new authorizations in the future. This makes sure all access to the provider is maintained if they make changes to their authorizations, but still restricts the access to one service.

Specific authorizations:
In case you want to be authorized, or authorize an employee to have access to specific services, this is also possible. The advantage is that the access is restricted to the selected services. 

In the screenshot below, an example service is shown. 



Step 2: Who is going to use the eHerkenning?

Everybody's allowed to apply for eHerkenning, also if the prospected user isn't registered as director. The only condition is that the authorized representative(s) sign the application form.

The authorized representatives are listed with the Dutch chamber of commerce (KvK), and this is shown under the 'board member' section of the Chamber of Commerce excerpt:


In the example shown above, the authorized representative is Solely/independently authorized.

However, there's a wide array of possible authorizations. In the table below, the possibilities are shown and the requirements for the different eHerkenning appliciation types are listed:

Attention: eHerkenning is a personal means.
The application needs to be started with the users' own e-mail address and phone number. 

Step 3: Gathering the required data

During the online application process, the following data is required:
-A chamber of commerce (KvK) number of the organization you're applying for.
-Your personal data, e-mail address and mobile phone number.
-The legal representatives' personal data and e-mail address. In most cases, we also require the legal representatives' proof(
s) of identity.

Step 4: Start your application

After gathering the required data, an application can be started by selecting the desired assurance level on this page.

During the application process, we ask you to fill out your e-mail address and create an password. These will be your credentials when your application is processed on our side.

Attention: The application needs to be started by the prospect user of the eHerkenning means.

Step 5: Controle van uw aanvraag

Make sure the data entered in the application are filled out correctly, and that all attachments are included. In certain cases, an Identification in person is required. Our Partner AMP Group performs these identifications on our behalf. The identification can take place in person, or through an app.


Upon receiving your application, we will check and verify all entered data. If everything is correct, your eHerkenning means is issued to you. An notification will be sent through e-mail. Upon receiving the confirmation e-mail, you can logon using the credentials entered in step 4.
