What are authorizations?
What is an authorization?
As well as your eHerkenning, you will also need authorizations. These allow you to log in to a service provider on behalf of your organisation.
Would you like to log in on behalf of another organisation? If so, you must first add an additional organisation to your eHerkenning. Without the correct authorization, you will not be granted access to the service provider’s portal and an error message will appear.
Which authorization do you need?
The service provider determines which authorization is required. Always check this on the relevant service provider’s website.During the application process, you can specify which services you wish to be authorized for in the ‘Authorizations’ step.
You can choose:
-
a specific authorization,
-
a single authorization for all services provided by a particular service provider,
-
or a single authorization for all services provided by all service providers.
Below is further information on the authorizations you can select:
-
Authorization for specific service providers: You select authorisations for one or more service points from different or the same service provider(s). This is particularly useful if you wish to authorise an employee who should only have access to one or a few service providers.
-
Authorization for all services from one (or more) service providers: You can choose all authorisations from one or more service providers. The advantage of this is that if the service provider adds a new service, you will automatically be authorised for it.
-
Most popular choice: Authorizations for all services from all service providers. With this authorization, you can log in anywhere where the selected level is required. You will also be automatically authorized for any future service providers that join eHerkenning.
